Barmusca, by Muscastar
The lovely bay purebred Arabian mare, Barmusca, came out of retirement recently to be presented at a local winter schooling show and fund raiser to support "People Helping Horses" of Arlington, WA. The senior (20+ years,) mare was in beautiful winter condition, and was excited to be at the horse show. She walked away with a blue ribbon, of course. Barmusca loves the crowd, and showed off her classic style and love for people. She's definitely a true winner in every sense of the word! Here's Barmusca with proud owner, Mary Tviet, of Gaalexy Arabians near Sedro Wooley, Wa. Barmusca is a direct daughter of the magnificent Muscastar, sired by *Muscat, and she is out of a Tornado and *Silver Drift bred mare.
Sister to many champions around the world, Barmusca is our special friend, and is a regal ambassador for the Arabian breed wherever she goes.
We're having so much fun working with "People Helping Horses". For more information on how you may raise funds for your own equine oriented charit
y, too, please contact Mary Tviet at Chocolate Gaalexy.
Horses of the World
Among the finest horse breeders in the world, the Russian people have excelled in breeding superior horses to ride into war, across country, or drive and work in any application needing intelligent horse power. The Russian landscape is especially in need of horses that welcome tests of stamina. Horses showing talent as dependable, long distance mounts, were quickly utilized by Russian horse breeders.
Purebred Arabian horses, with their large internal organs acting as super-engines for their lighter overall muscle mass, quickly became a favorite source for breeding comfortable, tough, and intelligent long distance riding companions.
By choosing to use only the finest Arabians for breeding purposes, each generation had the best chance show measurable improvements in soundness, conformation, heart, and type. The best of each family were evaluated for breeding on into the next generation. Carefully noting each family's strengths, they allowed strong points to be gradually shared among the entire stud. Tendencies among dam's and sire's offspring, and shifts in inherited qualities within chosen pairings, is closely watched and observed by the stud managers.
Worthy individuals from sire and dam lines world-wide are continually evaluated for possible use in adding strength to strength to future Russian Arabians. Spain, Egypt, England, and Poland, have all contributed select Asil ingredients to the purebred Russian Arabian since the late 1800's.
Re-creating the Arabian horse of legend is truly a goal the Russians have achieved with distinction .
We can only imagine what tomorrow's foals may be.
